UIY National President Inaugurates Warri South Executives, Unveils ₦2.5m Support, Urges People Oriented Leadership

In a move seen as a renewed push for grassroots mobilisation and cultural advocacy, the National President of Ugbarajo Itsekiri Youths (UIY), Comrade Joseph Okotie, earlier today Wednesday formally inaugurated the Warri South Zonal Executive of UIY Warri South Zone. The ceremony which was held at Egbokodo community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, drew youth leaders, community stakeholders and members of the Itsekiri nation in a show of unity, solidarity and shared purpose.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates of return to the newly elected zonal executives by a representative of the electoral committee, signalling the formal conclusion of the electoral process. The exercise, conducted in an atmosphere of order and anticipation, underscored the organisation’s commitment to internal democracy and institutional continuity.

Administering the oath of office, Okotie charged the new executives to embrace service driven leadership anchored on accountability, inclusiveness and collaboration. He stressed the need for alignment between zonal and national leadership structures, urging the team to prioritise policies and programmes that would safeguard and advance the socio cultural and economic interests of the Itsekiri people within Warri South and beyond.

The newly sworn in executives of Ugbarajo Itsekiri Youths(UIY) includes the following;

Chairman:Comr. Moses Amanoritsewo

Vice Chairman: David Abiye Ekengbuda

Secretary: Eboma Tuoyo Michael

Assistant Secretary: Edukugho Tosan

PRO: Toritseju Godwin Ukuejubola

Treasurer: Ugbameta Adanoritsewor

Financial Secretary: Leme Rose Gbubemi Edenetan

Director of Mobilisation: Bagiwa Barami

Director of Welfare: Ariyor Edun

Woman Leader: Ireyefoju Esther

Taskforce Head: Prince Oritseweyinmi Reece Omatsola.

In a practical demonstration of support, the UIY president announced a financial grant of ₦2.5 million as take off funds for the Warri South Zone. The intervention, he noted, is intended to strengthen administrative capacity, fund youth oriented initiatives and position the zonal body as a responsive platform for community engagement and development.

Observers say the inauguration comes at a critical time when youth organisations in the Niger Delta are increasingly called upon to play stabilising roles in community development, advocacy and conflict resolution. For UIY, whose influence continues to grow within Itsekiri communities, the success of the Warri South leadership may well serve as a test case for a broader vision, one that seeks to blend Itsekiri cultural preservation with pragmatic leadership in a rapidly changing socio political cum cultural landscape.
