Senator Ipalibo Harry Banigo Empowers Women & Youths with Poultry Farming Initiative in Rivers West
In a bold move to foster economic empowerment and self-sufficiency among her constituents, Senator Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo (DSSRS), representing Rivers West Senatorial District, has launched an intensive poultry farming training program aimed at equipping women and youths with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.
The three-day training, which took place from March 10th to 12th, 2025, in Degema, Rivers State, provided 100 participants with hands-on knowledge in modern poultry farming techniques, including hatching, broiler management, chick care, disease prevention, and profitable marketing strategies.
To ensure immediate implementation, each participant received ₦130,000 financial support, along with 2,500 birds, bags of feed, cages, feeding trays, and drinkers to kickstart their poultry business.
The program, designed to enhance food security, job creation, and financial independence, aligns with Senator Banigo’s commitment to sustainable development in Rivers West. Speaking at the event, she emphasized the importance of equipping constituents with practical skills that translate into economic growth.
Dignitaries present at the training included Prof. Udo Harbart, Registrar/CEO of the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science, and Mr. Julius Clement from the Federal Ministry of Special Duties & Intergovernmental Affairs.
Senator Banigo reaffirmed her dedication to empowering communities and promised more impactful initiatives in the near future. “This is just the beginning,” she stated, “we will continue to create opportunities that uplift our people and drive economic progress in Rivers West.”
