Media Entrepreneur Dave of Africa Urges Niger Delta Youths to Stop Discussing Tompolo in the Media
Media Entrepreneur and founding President of the Niger Delta New Media Practitioners, Owudogu Tuetara Dave, popularly known as Dave of Africa, has cautioned Niger Delta youths against the growing trend of openly discussing High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, in the media.
His remarks come in the wake of recent reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stated Tompolo may have questions to answer in connection with allegations of naira mutilation. In reaction, many Ijaw and Niger Delta youths have flooded social media and public spaces, speaking about how powerful Tompolo is, highlighting his good deeds, and explaining why he is called “Government.”
But Dave of Africa believes this public outpouring, though well-intentioned, is unnecessary and potentially harmful.
“Why are we talking?” he questioned. “Tompolo is not just a man; he is an institution. A pillar of strength and a symbol of hope in the Niger Delta. He has empowered many and brought stability to the region. We don’t need to explain who he is or why he is respected. His name speaks for itself.”
According to Dave of Africa, the constant emphasis on how powerful or influential Tompolo is may unintentionally create more attention and speculation around him at a sensitive time.
“Let us not feed the media with what they want,” he continued. “Every tweet, every video, every statement adds to a conversation that should not be happening in the first place. Respect is shown in silence. Loyalty is demonstrated through wisdom and restraint.”
He urged Niger Delta youths to protect the dignity of their leaders by choosing silence over noise and maturity over emotional outbursts.
“We owe it to ourselves and our future to be strategic. Let us not speak when silence serves our cause better,” he concluded.
Dave of Africa is an emerging media voice in the Niger Delta, consistently promoting unity, leadership, and regional development through his platform.
