The Ologbotsere of Warri Ojoye(Engr)Dr. Oma Eyewuoma Frowns Against the Plan by the Minister of Works to Reroute Sections of the Lagos Calabar Coastal Road Project.
Earlier today, the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom and the Chairman Warri Council of Chiefs, Ojoye(Engr)Dr. Oma Eyewuoma in a press release has expressed his disaffection over the decision of the Minister of Works David Umahi to engage in the rerouting of sections of the Lagos Calabar Coastal Road projects to upland axis, to avoid the building of multiple bridges around the coastal axis of Delta, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa.
He stated that, the decision of the Minister of Works which was revealed on Sunday 23rd February, 2025 in Lagos at a stakeholders engagement meeting is completely unfair to the people of the coastal areas of Delta, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa. This act may lead to more and more underdevelopment of the people from these coastal areas.
According to him, ” The people around the coastal areas needs basic amenities too. It is unfair if these people are deprived of this basic amenity just because of their terrain. Bridges around the coastal areas would help to boost socio-economic activities around these areas”.
Furthermore, he called on the Federal Government to reconsider their plans by continuing with the earlier plan to construct coastal roads around these coastal areas. These act will further boost tourism, commercial activities and massive development to these coastal areas.
The Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom called on the Federal Government and other stakeholders to continue with the construction of coastal roads in Delta, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa because it would help to bring about development to these places.
