The Impact of Old Students Associations in Primary Schools: NPS Alumni Association Provides Solar Panels and other Humanitarian Services to Nana Primary School, Warri.
Education is the bedrock or springboard for the growth and development of any society. Primary School education is the foundation of education which helps to develop the minds of children.
It is important to emphasize here that a lot of Primary Schools in Nigeria are faced with multifarious challenges which ranges from poor infrastructure, poor welfare of staff and other challenges. Thus, Old Students Associations are very important groups which helps the government and society at large in the provision of basic infrastructure in our schools.
Nana Primary School Alumni Association in Warri has provided solar panels for it’s Alma mater i.e Nana Primary School in Warri. Staff and pupils of Nana Primary School bubbled with excitement as the Solar Panels were being fixed in the school premises.
According to the Coordinator of NPS Old Pupils Mr. Fred Olomuro, he stated that the group was worried with the lack of water supply and poor electricity situation in the school. He emphasized that the condition affected the teaching and learning process. Due to this challenge, the organization had to come to the rescue of the school with the provision of Solar panels.
Apart from the solar panels provided by the NPS Old Pupils, they also gave out cash gifts ranging from (11,000 naira – 30,000naira) to all the members of staff of Nana Primary School, Warri. The Cordinator stated that the cash gift is a source of motivation and incentive to members of staff of the school. The members of staff were excited and amazed at the kind gesture of NPS Old Pupils.
Subsequently, NPS Old Pupils did not leave the pupils of Nana Primary School out from it’s kindness. They gave out cash gifts of (5000 naira – 10,000 naira) to the best pupils per class. This was done at the 2024 End of Year Party/ 9 Lessons and Carols Celebration which took place at the school field today December 11th, 2024. This was done to motivate and encourage the pupils to take their academics seriously.
In conclusion, the Head Master of Nana Primary School, Warri Mr. Mofe Mawe thanked NPS Old Pupils passionately and encouraged others to emulate their kindness and commitment towards making sure primary school pupils get quality education. The Cordinator of NPS Old Students stated that the group will do more in making sure Nana Primary School grows to greater height.
