Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Sunday, led top leaders of the state to a special church service to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
The interdenominational service, held at the Cathedral of St. Paul, Diobu, Port Harcourt, had in attendance his wife, Lady Valerie Fubara, Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Odu, Chief Judge Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, Chief of Staff, Ehie Edison and several stakeholders
Delivering a sermon titled “Good News for Nigeria”, Dean of the Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Dr. Blessing C. Enyinda, praised the nation’s resilience despite civil war and other challenges but lamented that poor leadership has hindered development. He urged Nigerians to break free from self-imposed limitations and maximize the country’s abundant resources.
He further welcomed the governor, his deputy, and lawmakers back from a period of rest, praying for lasting peace and progress in Rivers State.
