Comr. Emmanuel Fregene to Warri Indigenes, Warri Deserves A Better Representation:

Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi’s continued consideration for elective office raises serious concerns about his effectiveness as a representative. After several years in the House of Representatives, many constituents feel his tenure has produced little to no meaningful change in Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South-West. Despite holding the seat, there is no visible legacy project, no major roads, hospitals, schools, or economic initiatives that can be directly credited to his leadership.

Legislatively, his record is underwhelming. While he participates in committee work, there are few notable bills or motions in his name, especially on issues that matter most to Warri and the Niger Delta, including environmental degradation, oil pollution, unemployment, maritime development, and community rights. Constituents who expected strong advocacy and tangible federal intervention have largely been disappointed.

Visibility and communication remain another problem. Many residents openly say they don’t know what he has done for them, and efforts that may exist are poorly publicized. In today’s democracy, a representative who cannot clearly show results loses credibility and trust.

Grassroots engagement is also limited and selective, favoring political elites and traditional leaders while leaving ordinary citizens, youths, and women largely disconnected from decision-making. Furthermore, his party defection raised questions about political consistency and commitment to the people, seen by some as opportunistic rather than mandate-driven.

Retaining a representative with such a record carries a high opportunity cost, denying Warri the chance for new leadership, stronger advocacy, and genuine development. Hon. Ereyitomi’s tenure has been marked by low impact, weak visibility, and the absence of a defining legacy, reinforcing the argument that the constituency would benefit more from fresh, dynamic leadership.
