The Izon Cultural Heritage Centre (ICHC), led by Apostle Bodmas Prince Kemepadei, held a one-day sensitization and orientation seminar at Ebitare Hotel, Yenagoa, to address social vices among Bayelsa youths.

The seminar focused on issues such as cultism, drug abuse, sea piracy, and pipeline vandalism—major contributors to insecurity in the state. Apostle Kemepadei urged youths to steer clear of these vices, emphasizing their role in underdevelopment and instability.

“The rising cases of killings, cult clashes, and drug abuse in Bayelsa are alarming. We must take deliberate steps to curb these challenges,” he said, encouraging youths to prioritize education, skill acquisition, and productive ventures rather than engaging in crime.

As part of his support for youth development, he announced the purchase of 60 JAMB forms and tuition fee payments for students in public tertiary institutions.

In a significant show of philanthropy, Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei and the Izon Cultural Heritage Centre distributed ₦7 million in financial aid to over 100 youths, with beneficiaries receiving between ₦50,000 and ₦150,000. He urged recipients to use the funds wisely and contribute to a peaceful, progressive society.

The group also praised High Chief Ekpemupolo Oweizede, popularly known as Tompolo, for his contributions to peace in the Niger Delta and pledged support for regional leaders such as Dr. Samuel Ogbuku (MD, NDDC) and Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri (Minister of State for Petroleum).

ICHC further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the Nigeria Maritime University Okerenkoko Act into law, describing it as a step toward the development of the Niger Delta.

Finally, as part of its youth engagement efforts, the Izon Cultural Heritage Centre announced plans to organize a soccer tournament from February 10 to 14, 2025, in Yenagoa, in honor of High Chief Ekpemupolo Oweizede. They stated that the event would promote unity, peace, and the discovery of young talents in the Niger Delta region.
