AMASSOMA YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (AYODA) WORLDWIDE CALL FOR JUSTICE FOR PATRICK PERESUODE
Today, the Amassoma Youth Development Association (AYODA) Worldwide, in collaboration with the Southern Ijaw Federated Youth Council, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Ogboin Clan, AYODA Yenagoa chapter, alongside critical community stakeholders, convened an emergency meeting to deliberate on the tragic and brutal killing of a young and promising son of Amassoma, Peresuodei Patrick
After extensive deliberations, the youths of Amassoma unequivocally condemned in the strongest terms the alleged actions of Apst Bodmas Kemepadei who unlawfully and brutally taking the life of Patrick. Such an act is unacceptable, inhumane, and a direct affront to peace, justice, and the collective values of the Amassoma people.
Following the meeting, the youths formally protested and issued a notice to His Royal Highness, Chief Godwin Akedesuo, and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), requesting that this matter be immediately escalated to the Commissioner of Police (CP). Furthermore, a call to be made to the relevant community authorities to ensure that Bodmas Kemepade is produced without delay to explain his actions and face the full weight of the law.
In the interest of justice and to allow lawful processes to take their course, a period of three (3) days has been given for Bodmas Kemepade, either personally or through his community, to present himself to the appropriate authorities. Failure to do so will compel the youths to consider further lawful steps to demand justice.
During the meeting, the President of AYODA recalled a painful incident from the previous year, where another son of Amassoma was brutally killed under similar circumstances. Till date, clarity and justice on that matter remain unresolved, raising serious concerns about recurring violence against Amassoma youths and the seeming lack of accountability.
The President emphasized that the Amassoma youths will no longer tolerate the continuous loss of innocent lives and the culture of silence that often follows such crimes. He stressed that justice must not only be demanded but must be seen to be done, in order to deter future occurrences and restore confidence in the rule of law.
This position was clearly communicated to His Royal Highness and the DPO after a broad congress with the youths, urging all relevant authorities and stakeholders to act swiftly and decisively to prevent further escalation and ensure lasting peace in the community.
