Ologbotsere of Warri Led Ojoyes to 10th Anniversary Thanksgiving in Honour of Late Udefi Obaloye’s Parents.
The 10th year remembrance of the late Pa Omatseye Esanjumi and late Mama Oritsejome Omatseye unfolded in quiet dignity and colour at Ekurede, Warri South Local Government Area, where family, friends, and revered chiefs gathered for a thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God. The Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom, Ojoye Oma Eyewuoma, graced the ceremony in the company of distinguished Ojoyes, their presence adding both weight and warmth to a morning already heavy with memory and gratitude.
During the service, Ojoye Francis Omatseye, son of the late couple announced the establishment of a foundation in honour of his parents, a gesture he described as a continuation of their lifelong commitment to compassion and community care. Designed to support the less privileged, the foundation stands as a living tribute to the values Pa and Mama Omatseye embodied. The congregation received the announcement with applause, moved by the symbolism of transforming remembrance into public service. Ojoye Omatseye also presented a solar gift to light up the entire church.
From the church, the mood shifted from reflective to celebratory as guests proceeded to Ojoye Francis’s residence in Ugbolokposo, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. There, he hosted a reception that drew a wide circle of well-wishers, including Ojoye Eyewuoma and his entourage. Against a backdrop of laughter, shared stories, and the reassuring familiarity of Itsekiri communal life, the gathering became not just a memorial, but a reaffirmation of the bonds that sustain Warri Kingdom.
As the evening settled, the air came alive with graceful Itsekiri cultural musical performances, their rhythms weaving stories of rich Itsekiri heritage, resilience, and joy. The celebration, vibrant yet tender, echoed the enduring legacy Pa and Mama Omatseye left behind, a legacy of unity, kindness, and cultural pride.
May their gentle souls continue to rest in the comforting bosom of the Almighty!
