Itsekiri Youth Elites Sound Alarm Over Amnesty Slots Alleged Bias, Urge UIY to Lead Protest

Comr. Eboma Tuoyo Michael, Secretary of the Itsekiri Youths Elites (IYE), has publicly urged the leadership of the Ugbarajo Itsekiri Youths (UIY) to take immediate action in “agitating” for the relief of the Itsekiri people who, he maintains, have been unfairly excluded from the allocations of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

Michael accused the programme boss, Dr. Denis Otuaru, of overt bias and systematic oppression, saying it is obvious that Itsekiri ex-agitators have been deprived of their rightful inclusion into the program. He further insisted that one of UIY’s foremost current tasks must be to right this perceived injustice against Itsekiri’s.

In no uncertain terms, he demanded that UIY lodge a petition against the Amnesty boss, citing charges of “gross misconduct, bias, tribalism and oppression” towards the Itsekiri in the region. The petition, he added, should be directed to the Senate’s Code and Ethics Committee in the national assembly.

Beyond formal petitioning, Michael appealed to the UIY leadership to galvanise a mass protest, targeting both the Amnesty Programme’s offices and the Office of the National Security Adviser. His message was stark: if Dr.Shola Mese, designated as the Itsekiri Sole Representative of the Programme to the Olu of Warri, is not recognised and allotted the required slots, there may be serious unrest in the region.

He concluded that given the longstanding frustrations, the time for measured appeals has passed. He called on UIY to lead a bold response, protect the interests of the Itsekiri’s and demand accountability from the Amnesty programme.
