EDUCATION NEWS: Olu of Warri Extends Bursary Scheme to Accommodate More Students
First Batch of Beneficiaries Announced

The Office of the Sole Representative of the Olu of Warri to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has officially released the first list of beneficiaries under the Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR Itsekiri Students Bursary Scheme, marking a significant milestone in the monarch’s ongoing drive to promote education and youth empowerment across Itsekiri communities.
The published list, made available on Thursday, features hundreds of successful applicants drawn from a wide range of tertiary institutions in Nigeria, including universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and schools of health sciences. The scheme targets Itsekiri indigenes currently enrolled in undergraduate and professional programmes, specifically those in 200 level and above, who meet the set academic criteria.
BURSARY EXTENSION ANNOUNCED
In a statement, the Office announced an extension of the scheme to allow additional eligible Itsekiri communities to participate, with the aim of reaching the target of 1,000 total beneficiaries. Each qualified community has now been invited to nominate three eligible students to benefit from the final batch of the bursary award.
Communities are strongly cautioned to avoid submitting duplicate names, as individuals previously selected will not be reconsidered.

This bursary initiative, personally inspired and endorsed by His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, is part of a broader educational vision to strengthen the capacity of Itsekiri youths through access to quality education and professional development.
