FC Basel have officially clinched the 2024/25 Swiss Super League title, and at the heart of their triumphant campaign is none other than Bayelsa-born Nigerian winger Philip Otele.

Otele joined Basel on loan from UAE Pro League side Al Wahda on January 15, 2025, and quickly became a game-changer. In just 17 league appearances, the dynamic forward has scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists, proving instrumental in Basel’s title charge.

His speed, flair, and ability to deliver in crucial moments have made him a fan favorite and a key figure in the squad. Today’s goal in the 4–0 win against FC Luzern capped off a stellar season and underlined why Basel may be eager to make his move permanent.
