IGC Backs Tinubu, Oborevwori for 2027 Elections
The Itsekiri Grassroots Coalition (IGC) has officially thrown its weight behind the re-election bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The declaration was made by the National Coordinator of the group, Prince Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema, who stated that the decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders across Itsekiri communities and beyond.
According to Edema, the coalition’s endorsement is rooted in what it described as “visible strides in governance, economic reforms, and national repositioning” under the leadership of President Tinubu. He emphasized that continuity at the federal level would help consolidate ongoing policies and ensure sustainable development across the country.
In a similar development, the coalition also endorsed the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, for a second term in office.
The IGC leadership praised Governor Oborevwori’s administration for what it termed “inclusive governance, infrastructural development, and commitment to grassroots empowerment.” The group noted that his policies have positively impacted communities across Delta State, including Itsekiri areas.
Edema further urged members of the coalition, as well as the general public, to remain united and committed to supporting leaders who demonstrate capacity and responsiveness to the needs of the people.
He concluded by reaffirming the coalition’s dedication to advocating for the political and socio-economic advancement of the Itsekiri nation, while encouraging broader participation in the democratic process ahead of 2027.
