Warri Youths Receive Free Technical Training as Stakeholders Applaud Capacity Development Initiative

Warri, Delta State, In a renewed push to promote youth empowerment and career advancement, indigenous youths in Warri have begun benefiting from a fully sponsored technical training programme focused on high-demand industry certifications such as Rope Access and Fire Watch.

The initiative, facilitated by Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema, has been widely commended by stakeholders and youth advocates who have long championed intentional mentorship and capacity building among Warri’s indigenous population.

Speaking on the development, advocates highlighted that for years, there has been a sustained call for structured mentorship and career development pathways aimed at positioning Warri youths to compete effectively, not only in the oil and gas sector but across diverse industries. Certifications such as Rope Access and Fire Watch, they noted, have become increasingly essential for employability but remain financially out of reach for many young Nigerians.

The current programme seeks to bridge this gap by offering comprehensive support to participants. The first batch of trainees is undergoing free certification training, with all logistics fully covered. This includes accommodation, feeding, and transportation to and from the training venue, an intervention described as both timely and impactful.

Observers have praised the initiative as a practical step toward addressing unemployment and underemployment among youths in the region. They emphasized that such targeted investments in skill acquisition are critical for building a competitive and self-reliant workforce.
