The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has officially announced Friday, August 30, 2025, as the new date for the Local Government Elections across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
The announcement was made during a general stakeholders meeting held today, July 28, at the RSIEC headquarters in Port Harcourt. The Commission also unveiled a revised election timetable and updated guidelines to ensure a free, fair, and credible electoral process.
Chairman of RSIEC, Michael Odey assured political parties, civil society groups, and the general public of the Commission’s preparedness to conduct transparent and peaceful elections.
