Delta: Presidential Amnesty leader, Chief Ese, debunks allegations against Ethiope East LGA Chairman, Augustine Ogedegbe

Chief Ese Arigo, the National Speaker and Urhobo National Chairman of Phase 2 of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, who also serves as Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Security Matters, has strongly condemned what he describes as false and malicious allegations against the Executive Council Chairman of Ethiope East LGA, Mr. Augustine Ogedegbe

In a statement issued on Thursday, Chief Ese dismissed recent social media reports accusing Ogedegbe of misappropriating funds meant for ex-agitators, describing the publication as baseless, politically motivated, and deliberately designed to tarnish the image of a committed leader.

“Mr. Ogedegbe is a passionate and respected comrade in our shared struggle for a better Niger Delta. The allegations against him are completely unfounded and lack merit,” Arigo stated.

He clarified that Ogedegbe is not the Chairman of the Urhobo Ex-Agitators and has never laid claim to such a title, debunking claims that he is occupying dual roles illegally. Chief Ese further warned that any attempt to incite unrest or provoke protests based on misinformation constitutes a threat to peace and governance in the region.

The Presidential Amnesty leader emphasized that the Delta State Government maintains strict oversight over all funds and disbursements related to the amnesty programme. He urged the public to disregard the “spurious accusations” and advised individuals seeking recognition or inclusion to follow proper and diplomatic channels.

“Leadership attracts criticism, but we must not allow propaganda to derail our progress. Mr. Ogedegbe remains committed to transparency, development, and service to his people,” he said, adding that legal action will be taken against anyone found guilty of defamation or incitement.

Chief Ese Arigo concluded by calling on all stakeholders to focus on unity and development rather than division and distraction.
