Bayelsa Commissioner, Dr. Gentle Emelah, Urges Youths to Embrace Agriculture as He Visits His Tomato Farm
Bayelsa State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, has called on young people across the state to take agriculture seriously as a viable path to self-reliance, job creation, and food security
Speaking during a visit to his tomato farm in Yenagoa shortly after inspecting school projects, Dr. Emelah emphasized that farming is not only profitable but also essential in reducing unemployment and lowering the rising cost of food.
“After my school project inspection, I stopped by my tomato farm for a harvest. These fresh tomatoes were cultivated right here in Bayelsa. It shows how rich and fertile our land is,” he said.
Dr. Emelah stressed that agriculture should no longer be seen as an outdated or last-resort profession, but rather as a strategic solution to economic challenges facing Nigerian youths.
“I advise young people to look into farming as a serious business opportunity. With consistency and the right support, it can be a game-changer for individuals and for our economy,” he added.
