IYE HAILS UIY ON ONE YEAR OF PURPOSEFUL LEADERSHIP IN WARRI KINGDOM
WARRI – It is one year since the Ugbarajo Itsekiri Youths (UIY) national executives took the oath to serve, and in Warri Kingdom, that one year has come to mean something. It has meant meetings in interior part of our riverine community halls till dusk. It has meant urgent messages and calls at midnight. It has meant turning access into jobs, training, and conversations that matter.
The leadership of Itsekiri Young Elites (IYE), in a statement signed by its President, Comr. Lily-white O. Esigbone, and Secretary, Tuoyo Eboma, on Sunday in Warri, congratulated the UIY national executives led by President Comr. Okotie Joseph on clocking one year in office. IYE described the period as “a year of steady footprints, of access converted into opportunity, and of a new generation daring to serve.”
“Leadership, when it falls into the right hands, becomes a bridge,” IYE said. “In the last 12 months, UIY has moved beyond slogans. They have gone into communities. They have amplified youth voices. They have initiated programs that speak to the real hunger of Itsekiri young men and women at home and in the diaspora.”
The group noted that one year is not a lifetime, but it is enough to read the direction of a compass. “UIY has shown us that service is not about the chair you sit on. It is about the people you stand for. It is about Itsekiri land,” the statement read.
IYE also acknowledged the tightrope of youth leadership; the need to honor the throne while listening to the streets. It commended the UIY team for “navigating the delicate balance of respecting the Crown while responding to the yearnings of the itsekiri youth population.”
The statement further recognized the invisible burden of office; the eulogy, the pushback, and the quiet work that never makes flyers. IYE urged the UIY executive to stay anchored on transparency, inclusion, and fidelity to the vision of His Royal Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri.
As UIY steps into year two, IYE pledged continued collaboration. “To every UIY official who has labored in the last one year, you have done well. Your labor is seen, and history will not forget it. May God Almighty strengthen you to serve Warri Kingdom better and better,” the statement concluded.
