Warri South Chairman Agbateyiniro Bans All Rallies and Protests, Calls for Immediate Security Enforcement
In a decisive move to maintain peace and security, the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, has announced the indefinite suspension of all forms of rallies, protests, and public demonstrations within the local government area.
The announcement was made on Monday, May 19, following a high-level security meeting held at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat. The meeting was attended by key security stakeholders, including CSP Olubayo Ajao, CSP Chris Odeh, and DPO Charles Willie, representing Police Divisions A and B in Warri.
Speaking after the meeting, Comrade Agbateyiniro, who also serves as the Chief Security Officer of the local government, emphasized that the decision was taken in the best interest of public safety, stability, and the protection of lives and property.
“In light of recent developments and intelligence reports, we have resolved to place an indefinite ban on all rallies and protests in Warri South,” the chairman stated. “This measure is not intended to stifle democratic expression but to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order. Any individual or group intending to stage a rally must first obtain formal approval from the appropriate authorities.”
He called on all security agencies operating within the local government to enforce the directive with immediate effect and ensure strict compliance by residents and groups.
Comrade Agbateyiniro reassured law-abiding citizens that his administration remains fully committed to creating a peaceful and secure environment for socio-economic activities to thrive. He urged residents to go about their daily businesses without fear, reiterating that the government will continue to support efforts that promote development and stability in the area.
“We are focused on ensuring that Warri South remains a hub for commerce, culture, and community progress. This decision is a necessary step toward that goal,” he added.
The chairman also warned that violators of the ban would face the full weight of the law, and urged community leaders, youth groups, and civil society organizations to cooperate with the authorities in sustaining peace across the LGA.
