New Year Message: Ologbotsere of Warri Calls on Itsekiri Nation to Embrace Unity, Peace for Sustainable Growth
The Ologbotsere of Warri, Ojoye Engr. Dr. Oma Eyewuoma, has charged the Itsekiri people, both at home and in the diaspora, to uphold unity and peace as the enduring pillars for peaceful coexistence and sustainable development in Warri Kingdom. He stressed that no society can truly progress where discord thrives, noting that unity remains the greatest strength of the Itsekiri nation.
In his New Year message, released through his Confidential Secretary, Miss Mofe Edenetan, the Ologbotsere felicitated with the Itsekiri people on the festive season, describing it as a sacred moment for sober reflection and renewed commitment to collective values. He noted that the season offers more than celebration; it calls for introspection and a deliberate return to the ideals that have sustained the kingdom across generations.
Drawing inspiration from the birth of Jesus Christ, Chief Eyewuoma urged the people to embody virtues of peace, compassion, love and selfless service, values he said were also cherished by Itsekiri ancestors of old. He encouraged the people to allow these virtues to guide their daily interactions and leadership choices, as the kingdom strives toward greater harmony and prosperity in an increasingly complex world.
The Ologbotsere commended the Itsekiri ethnic nationality for their resilience, unity of purpose and steadfast support for His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, the Olu of Warri noting that such cooperation has been critical to the modest but steady progress recorded in recent times. According to him, development is not the work of one man or institution, but the outcome of shared sacrifice and collective responsibility.
He further described the yuletide season as a window for reconciliation, forgiveness and renewed brotherhood, calling on Itsekiri sons and daughters everywhere to shun acts capable of breeding disunity. Instead, he appealed for conscious efforts to promote peace, mutual respect and communal living, reminding the people that when one finger brings oil, it soils the others, but when hands wash each other, they both become clean.
